Be Brave & Shave at Beth El
On Sunday, March 6, 2011, over 40 dads and sons gathered at Beth El Synagogue in Bethesda to get sheared for a good cause. Through their Be Brave & Shave event, they surpassed their goal of raising $200,000 for Children’s National Medical Center. David Rifkind and Doug Davison spearheaded the effort, which will help create an outpatient center for the Bone Marrow Transplant program at the hospital. Children fighting cancer and other blood diseases will have a much-needed dedicated waiting area that will shorten their stay in isolation, decrease exposure to disease, and reduce anxiety for them and their parents.
