Idris's Birthday, Yay!
What started as a common cold warped into something that made it harder for Idris to breathe. We were rushed to the ER where Idris was immediately admitted into their PICU. A day later, his condition worsened and had to be intubated. He stayed on a ventilator for a week, and stayed in the hospital for another week to fully recover. As parents, this was the hardest thing for us to face. We couldn't have gotten through it without all of your prayers, love, and support. But more importantly, it was the amazing doctors, nurses, and staff that kept us involved in all medical decision making, reminded us to eat, encouraged to pump milk, and continued to make sure we were doing ok. Even doctors and nurses that weren't part of his care but had seen Idris in other environments (ie doctor's offices) would stop by to just give us a hug.
We count our blessings as our stay was not as intense as it may be for others, and we have our baby back as if nothing had happened to him. So we ask everyone to make Feb 22nd, Idris's birthday, a special day for him and all the children in the hopsital. Please help us reach our small goal and give every child the gift of hope and health.
