      This year, Children’s National Hospital celebrates its milestone birthday with the Race for Every Child: 150th Birthday Edition. Participants may register to join us in person or virtually. We will continue to monitor the COVID-19 situation to ensure that we make the safest decisions for our community. We will notify you of any event changes.

      It’s free to register. If you would like a chipped bib to officially time your 5K walk/run, $15 will be added to your registration (Kids Dash participants will not be timed). Registration gives you access to your personalized fundraising dashboard and the opportunity to recruit team members and raise vital funds to support Children’s National. We encourage all participants to fundraise. Those who raise $30 or more will receive a Race for Every Child: 150th Birthday Edition t-shirt.

      Registering

      Registration is free for this year’s Race for Every Child: 150th Birthday Edition. If you would like a chipped bib to officially time your walk/run, $15 will be added to your registration (Kids Dash participants will not be timed). To register, please click here. You can create or join a team or sign up as an individual. All registrants must have a unique email address to sign up and receive access to their participant dashboard. The registration deadline is Sunday, October 10 at 11:59pm.

      T-shirts

      T-shirts are part of our 2021 Recognition Program:. Individuals who register and reach $30 in individual fundraising will receive a t-shirt. One t-shirt per participant. The remaining items and recognitions are cumulative.

      • How do I get my t-shirt?
        If you registered as an in-person participant, you may pick up your t-shirt as part of packet pick-up. Details for packet pick up will be communicated to our participants closer to the event. If you registered as a virtual participant, your t-shirt will be mailed to you closer to the event day.
      • If I am a virtual participant, when will my t-shirt be mailed?
        For those who raise $30 in individual fundraising by October 1, we will mail your t-shirt later that week to get your shirt to you by event day.
      Is there a fundraising deadline?

      To receive Recognition Program items by event day, virtual participants may fundraise until October 1 and in-person participants may fundraise until Race Day on October 16. All participants may fundraise until October 31 and opt in to have Recognition Program items mailed to them after the event.

      What happens on Race Day?

      Please continue to check the “Event Day” tab in this section to stay informed about event day details and any changes. We will communicate with you about event day specifics as we get closer to October 16.

      Do I have to fundraise? Is there a fundraising minimum?

      There is no required fundraising minimum. All participants are encouraged to set a minimum fundraising goal of $250. Every dollar you raise will help us deliver exceptional pediatric care, support programs for patients and families and develop new therapies and cures. Team captains are encouraged to set a goal of $250 per team member.

      Is there a registration fee?

      There is no registration fee. However, if you would like a chipped bib to officially time your walk/run, $15 will be added to your registration.

      Will there be an in-person event?

      Yes. This year, as we celebrate our milestone 150th birthday, Race for Every Child participants may register to join us in person or virtually.       If I am a virtual participant, can I walk/run on a different day?

      Yes. Virtual participants can walk or run their 5K any day between October 2 October 16. We will provide further details on submitting photos and finisher times closer to event day.

      When is the deadline to register?

      You may register up until Sunday, October 10, 2021 at 11:59 p.m. ET.

      I am unable to register this year, how else can I support?

      You may donate in support of a team or individual participating in the Race for Every Child. Visit our donation page and search for the individual or team name.

      Will individual fundraising count toward team fundraising totals?

      Absolutely! Every dollar individual team members raise will contribute to the overall team fundraising totals! We encourage individuals to share their unique participant page links so they can qualify for the Recognition Program milestones while supporting the overall team goal.

      Does my whole family need to register?

      We ask that everyone who wants to run or walk in the 5K or Kids Dash register. Each participant then will have access to a personal fundraising dashboard and can hit fundraising milestones, including the 2021 t-shirt!

      Can I split my fundraising dollars among individuals who aren’t registered?

      We cannot split fundraising dollars among registrants and non-registrants. All participants who wish to participate in the 2021 Individual Recognition Program need to register separately.

      May I switch from participating in-person to virtually?

      Yes! The deadline to switch how you participate is October 1, 2021. Please email info@raceforeverychild.org to let us know you would like to make a change.

      Whether at Freedom Plaza or elsewhere, participation as a team is the best way to experience the Race for Every Child, fundraise and make an impact. Choose a creative team name and plan fun ways to engage your team members.

      How many people can be on a team?

      Teams range from two people to as many as you’d like. There is no limit.

      Who can be on my team?

      Reach out to family, friends, neighbors and co-workers and invite anyone you wish. Keep in mind individuals who live out of state virtual participants — can join us from wherever they are!
