I am participating in the Race for Every Child because I want to make a difference for kids and families who need the support and care of Children's National, as we did with our son, Evan.   Evan received open-heart surguery for his congenital heart defect when he was just 6 weeks old.  He will need another surgery when he is older to finalize the repair and provide him with a pulminary valve.  We hope to raise money for the cardiology department and research to help improve procedures.
