Our daughter, Claire, was diagnosed with cancer when she was 19 months old. She's now 4.5 and doing great! She's been cancer free for two years now.
Children's National became our home away from home--we spent a LOT of time there throughout 2021 and 2022--my Christmas vacation even turned into a 5 day stint in a COVID isolation room trying to entertain Claire all day.
Claire doesn't remember being sick, but she sure does remember Children's National Hospital. When she goes to her check-ups and scan appointments, she walks around like she owns the place, knows exactly how to stay "still like a statue" in the CT scanner, and knows just where her yellow survivor plaque is next to the chemo bell. Claire's demeanor at the hospital demonstrates it wasn't a scary place for her, and we are so thankful to all the staff for that!
Please consider donating to our team so we can help to support other kids like Claire, and families like ours, that benefited from both the incredible medical care and the social support the hospital provides.
Team Claire Bear Strong!
