Nicholas and Crystal! Nicholas has been a patient since a very young age, having his first surgery at Children's before his 1st birthday. Nicholas would go on to have a total of 4 surgeries at Children's as well as receive some of the best therapies and expertise that pediatrics has to offer! Nicholas is now 5 and is healthy and growing still receiving his care at Children's. 

        I can't leave out that not only am I Nicholas' mom, I've also been employed at Children's for over 18 years! I began working at Children's at the age of 21, 5 months after I aged out of the foster care system where I Iived since the age of 4. Children's was just what I needed at the right time.  Children's became my family.  I now had a family that would help me grow into the woman I am today. As faith would have it, my work at Children's would prepare me on my next journey, motherhood. Raising a child with special needs has been made a tad easier because I know where my son is receiving his care! I personally picked his doctors and they've known me long before I was a mom. 

Participating in the Race for Every Child is very personal for our family. Participating is the  very least that I could do for an organization that has done so much for me and my son.
