We are participating in the Race for Every Child because we want to make a difference for kids seeking medical treatment in the Washington, DC area!
Children's National is truly a special place and we credit them for saving Claire's life and giving us world-class treatment! Claire's doctors, nurses, social workers, child life specialists, etc. are all amazing and we feel so fortunate to have access to such amazing medical care.
Claire Bear was diagnosed with a Stage 4 Wilms Tumor with lung metastasis in late August 2021 at 19 months old. She first underwent biopsy surgery and port insertion (early September), then six weeks of chemotherapy, and then had her tumor removed in late October 2021. She was treated with Regimen M for Wilms Tumor, which means she had 33 weeks of chemotherapy + radiation treatment. She spent 50+ nights at Children's Hospital during her treatment! For a while it was definitely our second home.
She finished chemo treatment in April 2022 and we finally got word that she was cancer free in August 2022. For the first year off treatment she was scanned every 3 months, and now we are on a 6-month scan schedule.
You can join our team and walk with us in October or donate on our page! Your donations will help power groundbreaking cancer research and world-class care for Children’s National Hospital patients and families just like us!
If interested in joining our team, click the link "Join Claire Bear Strong" at the top of this page! There is no cost to register and no pressure to fundraise (although we'd love it).
