Children's National Hospital's Doctor's and Neonatal Intensive Care Unit saved Morgan's life. Our goal is to help support the teams we met through our time in the hospital. In April of 2024, Morgan Violet made an early appearance to the world 4 weeks early. In her first 24 hours of life, we would learn why Morgan came early, she needed help. Morgan was born with a congenital condition called Duodenal Atresia. Upon receiving the news of this "issue" our worlds stopped. Next thing we knew, we were being transferred to Children's National Hospital and in a time filled with much uncertainty, we found comfort knowing we were headed to the right place.
Both being from the DC metro area, our family has a unique tie into CNH. Morgan's aunt worked for 7+ years as a Neonatal Critical Care Transport Nurse and was able to immediately connect us with some of the CNH team members who would help us along our journey.
Morgan underwent successful surgery 3 days into life and had to spend the next 20 days in the NICU healing and continuing to develop. Words cannot express the gratitude we have for the entire staff that helped Morgan. The team of Doctor's was world class, and we specifically want to highlight the care Morgan received from the SPECIAL humans who make up the NICU team. We often referred to as "Miracle workers “during our time at the hospital. Fortunately for our family, Morgan's outlook is bright and she continues to make a full recovery. We are excited that she will be able to live her life with no limits.
