      Due to the ongoing and rapidly changing COVID-19 pandemic, the 2020 Race for Every Child will be a virtual event for the first time ever! It’s free to register. Registration gives you access to your personalized fundraising dashboard and the opportunity to recruit and raise vital funds to support Children’s National Hospital. We encourage all participants to fundraise. Those who raise $30 or more will receive a Race for Every Child t-shirt.

      Registration is free for this year’s Race for Every Child: Virtual Edition. To register, please click here. You can create or join a team or sign up as an individual. All registrants must have a unique email address to sign up and receive access to their Participant Dashboard. The registration deadline is Thursday, October 15 at 5pm.


      T-shirts are a part of our 2020 Recognition Program: Individuals who register and reach $30 in individual fundraising will receive a t-shirt. One t-shirt per participant. The remaining items and recognitions are cumulative.

      T-shirt FAQs:

      • How do I get my t-shirt?
        You will receive an email from the Race Team asking for your t-shirt size and mailing address. Qualifying team members in the same household can also be included on the same form.
      • When will my t-shirt be mailed?
        We have received an incredible surge in fundraisers! For those who raise $30 individually by 10/9, we are working hard to get you your t-shirt before Race Day. Fundraising can still take place through Nov. 17 to receive all recognition items.
      Is there a fundraising deadline?

      You can fundraise through Nov. 17 to qualify for this year’s Recognition Program!

      What happens on Race Day?

      We will have a special 25-minute virtual ceremony that will start at 9 a.m. sharp. Please visit our website, to access the link to the ceremony from the main page.

      We encourage you to run or walk following the latest social distancing guidelines.

      Do I have to fundraise? Is there a fundraising minimum?

      There is no required fundraising minimum. All participants are encouraged to set a minimum fundraising goal of $250 to help families and children who need it the most. Every dollar that you raise will be put to use by the hospital to provide exceptional pediatric care, support programs for patients and families and develop new therapies and cures. Team captains are encouraged to set a goal of $250 per team member.

      Is there a registration fee?

      No. There is no registration fee this year in light of our format changing to virtual. All registrants will receive access to their participant dashboard to begin fundraising efforts and the 2020 t-shirt will be available once individuals hit $30 in fundraising!

      Will there be an in-person event?

      There will not be an in-person event. We invite you to join our virtual movement. We will host a virtual ceremony on Saturday, October 17, and encourage team captains and participants to gather together in your own neighborhood at the conclusion. Stay tuned for our full schedule of virtual activities leading up to Oct. 17!

      When is the deadline to register?

      You may register up until Thursday, October 15, 2020 at 11:59 p.m. ET.

      I am unable to register this year, how else can I support?

      You may donate in support of a team or individual participating in the Race for Every Child. Visit our donation page and search for their individual or team name.

      Will individual fundraising count toward team fundraising totals?

      Absolutely! Every dollar individual team members raise will contribute to the overall team fundraising totals! We encourage individuals to share their unique participant page links so they can qualify for the Individual Recognition Program milestones while supporting the overall team goal.

      Does my whole family need to register?

      We encourage everyone who is interested to register so they can access a personal fundraising dashboard and hit fundraising milestones, including the 2020 T-shirt!

      Can I split my fundraising dollars among individuals who aren’t registered?

      We cannot split fundraising dollars among registrants and non-registrants. All participants who wish to participate in the 2020 Individual Recognition Program need to register.

      How do I encourage my friends and family members to participate in a neighborhood walk/run?

      We’d love to help! Please contact us at to speak with the Race for Every Child team. We are excited to share ideas with you.

      Participating as a team is the best way to experience the Race for Every Child, fundraise and make an impact. Choose a creative team name and plan fun ways to engage your team members.

      How many people can be on a team?

      Teams range from two people to as many as you’d like. There is no limit to the number of members on a team.

      Who can be on my team?

      Reach out to family, friends, neighbors, and co-workers. Whoever you want to invite is welcome to join your team!
